The Electric Boat & Ship Association Greece (EBA Greece) announced that the first electric ferry boat in Greece is expected to launch in the near future, serving the Aigio - Agios Nikolaos (Doridos) route in the Gulf of Corinth, which has stopped operating since 2011.

Following the so-long cooperation and relation between China and Greece, the Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Ioannis Plakiotakis stated that Greece will improve bilateral cooperation with China as an example under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On Wednesday, November 27, Greece’s second-largest lender said that the National Bank of Greece (NBG) has signed deals to sell a 262 million-euro ($288.78 million) portfolio of shipping loans to investment funds as part of its effort to reduce its load of soured credit, Reuters reported.

In light of the trade war between the US and the EU, the tariffs seem to be affecting Greece’s most buoyant export sectors, its canned peach, Reuters reports. The increase in tariffs came into effect on October 18, when Greeks were ready to ship 50 million tins to US markets.

On October 9, the cruise ship Braemar made history, as it became the longest ever ship to cruise through the Corinth Canal in Greece. The 24-meter-wide canal connectw the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth. While transiting, the ship was close enough to the canal's sides, that guests could almost touch the walls.

The Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez announced that Yavuz, the Turkish drillship, was planned to start drilling for oil and gas, on Monday 7 or Tuesday 8 October in the southwest of Cyprus, an announcement that would further intensify the friction between the countries.
