A look at LNG shipping

Worldwide sourcing and distribution of LNG has grown into a major industry player while seeking to balance the growing global appetite for affordable energy with environmental concerns.  MAN Turbo and Diesel created an infographic regarding LNG shipping which is a booming market, driving growth at every stage of the process chain. Lower emissions Natural gas burns far cleaner than other fossil fuels do, producing 30% less carbon dioxide than petroleum and 45% less than coal, as well as significantly lower levels of sulfur and nitrogen oxides. “Natural gas and air are mixed before entering the combustion chamber and ignited via a small quantity of injected MDO/MGO pilot fuel. The combustion process according to the Otto-cycle ensures the lowest nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions when operating in gas mode, which are lower than projected future emission limits. For the sake of fuel flexibility, the engine can operate alternatively in liquid mode, where fuel oil is injected via conventional main pumps as in the 48/60B HFO engine,” explains Dietmar Zutt, Head of Sales Merchant Marine at MAN Diesel & Turbo. A booming market The booming LNG market is driving more than ship production, however. There is significant growth and investment at every stage ...

EIA: Floating LNG regasification is used in smaller markets

According to the latest research from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), floating regasification is increasingly being used to meet natural gas demand in smaller markets, or as a temporary solution until onshore regasification facilities are built. Of four countries planning to begin importing LNG in 2015, three of them—Pakistan, Jordan, and Egypt—have chosen to do so using floating regasification rather than building full-scale onshore regasification facilities. Floating regasification involves the use of a specialized vessel called a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which is capable of transporting, storing, and regasifying LNG onboard. Floating regasification also requires either an offshore terminal, which typically includes a buoy and connecting undersea pipelines to transport regasified LNG to shore, or an onshore dockside receiving terminal. An FSRU can be purpose-built or be converted from a conventional LNG vessel. Floating regasification offers a flexible, cost-effective solution for smaller or seasonal markets, and can be developed in less time than an onshore facility of comparable size. It can also serve as a temporary solution while permanent onshore facilities are constructed, and an FSRU can be redeployed elsewhere once construction is completed. There are currently 16 FSRUs functioning as both transportation and regasification vessels ...

World's Largest FSRU – the Experience The Experience, constructed to provide long-term service for Brazil's Petrobras, is the largest and most capable FSRU in the world with a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters and sendout capability of 1 billion cubic feet per day. The vessel is the ninth in Excelerate Energy's fleet of FSRUs, making the company the industry's largest operator of regasification vessels. Excelerate Energy delivered the Experience to Brazil in May 2014.In the outbreak, I was outspoken with you propecia before and after has changed my essence. New agreement expands LNG fuel market opportunities

Klaipedos Nafta has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bomin Linde LNG to jointly develop the LNG fuel market, including the necessary infrastructure, in the Baltic Sea. As of 1 January 2015, Klaipedos Nafta has successfully started commercial operations of its Independence floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), providing LNG regasification and reloading services on a third-party-access basis. The company now intends to construct an onshore small scale LNG reloading station in the port of Klaipeda. With this station, Klaipedos Nafta will be able to offer small scale LNG services, e.g. loading services for trucks, serving the increasing demand for LNG the Baltic States and in Poland. Bomin Linde LNG intends to become the user of the Klaipeda LNG terminal and to book regulated LNG reloading capacities in order to use the facility as the regional break-bulking hub for the Baltic Sea. Bomin Linde LNG and Klaipedos Nafta have also agreed to jointly explore the possibilities to develop an LNG bunkering vessel, which would provide LNG bunkering services in the region, feed the LNG reloading station in Klaipeda and Bomin Linde's LNG bunkering terminals, e.g. the planned terminal in Hamburg, and other bunkering terminals in the Baltic Sea.  In ...

GTT receives order from Hyundai Heavy Industries for a FSRU

GTT announced the order of a new FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) which will be built by the Korean shipbuilding Company Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). The regasification unit is expected to be delivered in 2017 and will be built with the proven Mark III technology. The cargo tanks will be equipped with an optimized containment system configuration to allow all partial filling ability. This FSRU will be the fifth one in the series at HHI and the seventh one in total owned by the Norwegian Company Höegh LNG, and equipped with GTT membrane. The order, received in November, highlights the importance of the partnership between HHI and GTT and the Höegh LNG’s trust in membrane technologies. Commenting on this latest notification, Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT declared “We are pleased to further strengthen our relations with our Korean partner HHI and with Höegh LNG while noting that our technologies are once more recognized by the LNG industry.” Source: GTT / Image Credit: Höegh LNGIn the starting, I was frank with you propecia before and after has changed my being.
