Near the Black Sea city of Constanta Romanian authorities say they have extinguished a raging fire on a ship docked near the Black Sea city of Constanta.The fire started early Monday on the Panama-registered vessel FGM Europe that has been undergoing repairs in Midia-Navodari, a small port just north of Constanta. Firefighters battled with the fire for six hours before it was put out.Port spokesman Catalin Arteni has told Agerpres news agency that there are no victims. The ship's crew had extinguished the fire by 18:20.Nobody was injured in the fire, the cause of which has not yet been determined.The ship, Silja Serenade, was the 18:00 departure for Helsinki. Abdi said it is believed the fire was caused by an electrical problem in the ship's kitchen.Abdi said that plumes of smoke were rising over the ship as the fire moved through it.Cmdr. Fire broke out for unknown reasons yet On May 30, 2011, a fire broke out in the scrap load aboard the "Rebecca Rausing" which could be extinguished only at 8.30 a.m. on May 31.Thick smoke had spread over Överby and Björndalen so that residents were asked to stay indoors and keep windows shut. The port crane could lift the scrap of the ship, which helped in extinguishing the fire raging in the cargo of scrap cars on board the vessel which was moored at Stallbacka harbour in Trollhättan.The fire broke out at 7.30 p.m. by yet unknown reasons. At 3 a.m. on May 31 the emergency services had the fire under control. Concluded that the fire was caused by the collapse of a fire tube The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE) released the findings of its investigation into a fire that occurred Sept. 2, 2010, on Mariner Energy Inc.s, Vermilion 380 A oil and natural gas production platform located approximately 102 miles off the coast of Louisiana.A BOEMRE Accident Investigation Panel concluded that the fire was caused by the collapse of a fire tube located inside of the platforms Heater-Treater. The Heater-Treater, a nearly 30-year-old piece of equipment, used heat from a fire tube as well as chemicals and electricity to separate oily water emulsions into oil and water.The fire tube had been weakened over time due to a variety of factors, including heat, corrosion and pitting. Investigators also found that after the platform lost primary power because of the fire, the emergency generator failed to start and supply power to the firewater pump, leaving the 13-member crew without a firewater system to aid them in trying to fight the fire.
