On July 12th, an explosion and ensuing fire were reported on the oil tanker Ratu Yamani near Kalimantan, Indonesia. 

On Friday, July 7th, 2023, an engine fire broke out on the Marella Discovery while it was departing Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic.

According to U.S. Coast Guard, the fire aboard the conro Crande Costa D’Avorio at the port of Newark, New Jersey has been contained. As of Saturday afternoon, the fire is confined to the 11th deck, and the end is in sight. 

On 5th July, two firefighters were confirmed dead after Grimaldi cargo ship caught fire in Port Newark. Multiple vehicles on the ship caught fire, then spread to the two floors above, according to officials.

According to Bangladesh Coast Guard, on 1st July, four seafarers have been killed and more injured after a Bangladeshi product tanker was caught fire by explosions. 

Stolt-Nielsen reported today that the Court of Appeals has affirmed by two to one, in all material respects the ruling on liability from 2018 by the US District Court for the Southern District of New York regarding the 2012 incident on board the MSC Flaminia. Stolt Tank Containers BV has been found at fault together with Deltech for 45% and 55%, respectively.

According to International news, on 29th June, 82 British tourists rescued after their wooden boat caught fire near the Greek island of Rhodes. 

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued an investigation report on the fire that destroyed the towboat Mary Dupre while it was under way on the Intracoastal Waterway last year.

Lloyd's Register has released an Engine Room Safety Alert, in order to inform interested parties how to prevent engine room fires such as the one that took place onboard ferry Berlin. 

According to the Philippine Coast Guard, on 18th June, the ropax ferry Esperanza Star had caught fire off Panglao, Bohol while under way for Tagbilaran.
