Costa Cruises released its 2015 Sustainability Report detailing the company’s sustainability efforts based on responsible innovation and the creation of value which enabled it to meet its corporate goal in the environmental field, to reduce its energy consumption by 4.8 percent year on year and its carbon footprint by 2.3 percent year on year in 2015.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration projects that U.S. petroleum and other liquid fuels production, which in addition to crude oil and condensate production includes natural gas plant liquids derived from natural gas processing as well as biofuels and volume gain at refineries, is projected to grow from 14.8 million barrels/day (b/d) in 2015 to 18.6 million b/d in 2040 in its Annual Energy Outlook 2016 (AEO2016) Reference case.

ExxonMobil’s new report ''The Outlook for Energy: A view to 2040'' forecasts that global CO2 emissions are likely to peak around 2030, and then begin declining. In coming decades, although populations and living standards will rise significantly, ongoing improvements to energy efficiency – and increasing efforts to use lower-carbon fuels wherever practical – will slow the growth in energy-related CO2 emissions.

Global energy demand will increase 25 percent between 2014 and 2040, driven by population growth and economic expansion, ExxonMobil said in the 2016 edition of The Outlook for Energy
