The agreement aims to improve the performance at the Doraleh Container Terminal, making it possible to handle an extra 300,000 20-foot TEU annually. The Doraleh terminal has a capacity of 1.6 million TEUs per year. This agreement came shortly after, Djibouti ended its cooperation with Dubai’s DP World.

DP World informed that it handled a record volume, as it handled 70.1 million TEU across its global portfolio of container terminals in 2017, with gross container volumes increasing by 10.1% year-on-year on a reported basis and 9.7%. DP World's terminals also handled 36.5 million TEU in 2017, a 24.7% improvement in performance. 

Terminal operator DP World initiated a new program to enhance digital transformation across its business operations worldwide using Oracle Cloud Applications. The new platform will include technologies of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet Of Things and Block Chain, to deliver smarter operations and create intelligent logistics.

The Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre plans to visit maritime stakeholders, during 2018, in order to present its services and enhance confidence in the maritime industry for arbitration and mediation. The first meeting already happened, at the DP World Head Quarters in Jebel Ali Port.

DP World and India’s NIIF released a statement announcing the creation of an investment platform to invest in ports, terminals, transportation and logistics businesses in India. The platform will invest up to $3 billion to acquire assets and develop projects in the sector.

DP World London Gateway Port reduced its carbon emissions by 28% per TEU in 2016, compared to the previous year. The carbon footprint was reduced due to an increase of containers, introduction of hybrid-electric shuttle carriers, better recording and tracking of energy use, and reduced energy consumption in buildings.

Canada's second-largest container terminal is now re-opened, after it has been temporarily closed since Sunday, 3 September, due to an unidentified "incident", according to Port of Prince Rupert authorities.
