Oasis of the Seas, the luxury cruise ship involved in a crane incident at the Grand Bahama Shipyard earlier in April, is expected to return back to service for its normally scheduled 5 May sailing, the owner Royal Caribbean Cruises informed.

Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation supplied its SCK Cell Fenders under a project undertaken by the Singapore Cruise Centre to upgrade its infrastructure to accommodate the latest generation of cruise vessels at its international cruise terminal. HarbourFront’s two terminals, the International Passenger Terminal (IPT) and the Regional Ferry Terminal (RFT) welcome over 5 million cruise and ferry passengers each year.

The world's first LNG-fueled cruise ship, AIDAnova, arrived in the Port of Barcelona last week. Germany-based AIDA Cruises and numerous representatives from politics, port-related businesses and tourism celebrated Friday the ship arrival. 

Royal Caribbean announced that it started construction of its fifth Oasis Class cruise ship on April 24 with a steel cutting ceremony. The steel cutting marked the official start of construction, and took place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The, yet unnamed, Oasis-class ship is planned to be delivered to Royal Caribbean in 2021.

Disney Cruise Line announced a new initiative to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the maritime industry by funding scholarships to empower girls and young women to pursue careers in the cruise industry.

ABP South Wales is preparing for a busy 2019 cruise season at the Port of Cardiff, following a popular programme of passenger vessel calls in 2018. The passenger ship 'Marco Polo', owned and operated by Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV), will kick off the season on 22 April.

Facial recognition technology has made its way in the cruise industry and now there are available applications everywhere. Technology company IDEMIA has cooperated with Royal Caribbean and the US Customs and Borders Protection to trial biometric identity verification for CBP's processes at terminals in Miami, Florida and Cape Liberty, New Jersey. 

According to US's Virgin Islands Governor, Albert Bryan, the US Virgin Islands aim to be placed as the number one tourism destination in the Caribbean by  employing robust public-private partnerships. The port Authority is also experiencing a progress with the permanent repairs of its 119 facilities damaged in the hurricanes of September 2017.

The Port of Seattle, celebrating 20 years as a homeport, welcomes the 2019 cruise season with the arrival of the first ship—Celebrity Eclipse, at the Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal at Pier 66. The Port expects an estimated 1,208,590 revenue cruise passengers this year, breaking last year’s record of 1,114,888.

Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk broke ground on Brisbane's $158 million new International Cruise Terminal. The project is planned to open in October next year, with the potential to more than double Brisbane's cruise industry. Port of Brisbane CEO Roy Cummins said that within its first five years the terminal is expected to handle more than 1,100 vessel calls and around 1.8 million passengers.
