Corvus Energy announced that will provide Orca Energy lithium-ion energy storage systems for four hybrid rubber-tired gantry cranes, for CCCC Shanghai Equipment Engineering. The RTGs are the first of many cranes at the Chinese Port of Changshu to undergo a diesel to battery hybrid conversion using a Corvus Orca ESS.

The Georgia Ports Authority announced that has commissioned the first of four new Neo-Panamax ship-to-shore giant cranes at the Port of Savannah Garden City Terminal. The growing crane fleet, working over nearly 10,000 contiguous feet of dock, will be able to handle more than 1,000 container moves per hour, when all 30 cranes are in place.

Port of Oakland announced that up to six 366-foot-tall cranes will soon be raised 27-feet higher, in order to make it easier to load and unload megaships with containers stacked high above deck. The project will begin this spring at its largest marine terminal.

Konecranes will deliver four Cantilever Rail Mounted Gantry cranes to Virginia International Gateway (VIG) terminal as part of its expansion. The first two cranes will be delivered in the spring of 2018. The last two will be delivered in early 2019. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose the value of the contract.

Maersk Elba entered the Carmel Terminal on February 1, and was operated on by four STS cranes with an average productivity of 136 containers per ship hour. In order to prepare for the arrival of the Maersk Elba and similar subsequent vessels, five new cranes were built at the Carmel Terminal.

Four new Super Post Panamax ship-to-shore cranes arrived at Garden City Terminal Monday, bringing the Port of Savannah’s total to 26, more than any other terminal in the U.S. The enormous cranes can work the largest ships calling on the U.S. East Coast, reaching across vessels 22 containers wide.

APM Terminals has announced orders for 12 remote-controlled Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and 32 Automated Rail-Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMGs) to equip the new five million TEU APM Terminals MedPort Tangier facility now under construction at the Tanger-Med II port complex.
