MOL gets environmentally friendly Ro-Ro vessel

MOL and Cargotec committe to clean seas A Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) car carrier has become the first to have all of its ro-ro equipment electrically driven.The 4,000 unit car carriers Iris Ace, built by Shin Kurushima Toyohashi Shipbuilding, features an electrically-driven MacGregor stern quarter ramp/door, side ramps and two movable ramps from Cargotec. With the equipment be all electric it eliminates the need for hydraulic oil in the operating system."Shin-Kurushima, MOL and Cargotec are all committed to clean seas," said Magnus Sjöberg, sales director for ro-ro ships at Cargotec. "The cooperation between the companies has resulted in these exceptionally efficient, environmentally-friendly vessels. Cargotec wins major port automation contract in Los Angeles, USA

A contract to supply 10 automatic stacking cranes and 17 customer automatic shuttle carriers Cargotec has won a contract to supply ten state-of-the-art Kalmar automatic stacking cranes and 17 customer specific automatic shuttle carriers to leading terminal services' provider TraPac Inc, in Los Angeles, USA. The equipment will be delivered to TraPac Inc, a subsidiary of Mitsui OSK Lines, in 2012 and 2013. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. The order has been booked in the third quarter of 2011.Lennart Brelin, Cargotec Executive Vice President, Americas said this order reinforced the company's position as a leading supplier in port automation. Cargotec secures hatch cover and crane orders from Korea

Cargotec secures EUR 25 million of orders for MacGregor Cargotec has confirmed new orders worth around EUR 25 million to deliver MacGregor hatch covers, lashing bridges and fixed lashing gear for eleven 8,800 TEU container ships being built by Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering shipyard in South Korea. The MacGregor equipment will be delivered between mid-2012 and the end of 2013. The orders include an option for the delivery of MacGregor solutions for a further ten ships."Hatch covers and lashing systems are an integral part of a container vessel's cargo-handling ability," says, Tommi Keskilohko, Sales Manager for Container ships. A joint venture owned by Cargotec and Western Shipyard in Klaipeda Cargotec opens a new marine service company: MacGregor BLRT Baltic UAB in Klaipeda, Lithuania. The company is a joint venture owned by Cargotec (51%) and Western Shipyard (49%), located in Klaipeda."This joint venture with the major shipyard owner in Baltic, Western Shipyard - is a natural continuation for Cargotec's Marine Service development in the Baltic Countries where Cargotec has a good market share with MacGregor products and services," says Kimmo Huhtala, Branch & Sales Manager in Cargotec's Marine Service."In Baltic, cargo access equipment repairs and annual maintenance are mainly carried out during dry docking repairs at the yards rather than having the repairs done in ports between the voyages due to ships' tight time schedules.
