Trafigura has signed a contract for four Medium Gas Carriers (MGC) that will be capable of using low-carbon ammonia as a propulsion fuel when delivered.

Ammonia is gaining traction as a potential clean fuel for the future, with the first ammonia-powered vessels expected to debut as early as 2025. In response to this emerging trend, Ocean Technologies Group (OTG) has developed an e-learning program focused on ammonia fuel safety to educate seafarers about handling, storage, and safety precautions specific to ammonia-fueled ships.

ExxonMobil, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) have established the ExxonMobil-NTU-A*STAR Corporate Lab to develop solutions to help lower carbon emission and contribute to resource efficiency.
