The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has introduced a Crew Change service, launched on November 1, to meet growing demand.
This service is provided through the Suez Canal Yacht Marina at Ismailia and extends to vessels and marine units transiting the Canal in both directions. Key locations include Lake Timsah and the Great Bitter Lakes waiting area. The service allows maritime agencies to book digitally via the SCA website, simplifying procedures and expediting service delivery.
The digital Crew Change service on the SCA’s official website allows the online booking of this service with ease to all maritime agencies. Following that comes the completion of the required procedures with the competent authorities, then the provision of the service and collecting the service fee at the Suez Canal Yacht Marina at Ismailia which is calculated according to the duration of the process; starting the movement of the launch from the Marina until its return to it.
This new service complies with the requirements of the marine crews change services supported by the initiatives of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to provide faster, effortless and safer services.
Crew sign-on and sign-off can be arranged while vessels are passing by Ismailia station or anchored at Temsah loop and Great Bitter Lakes, for both northbound and southbound convoy vessels. Agents will need the full crew details and copies of their passports at least 24 hours prior to the ship’s arrival.
The Crew Change service includes providing refueling to vessels and marine units transiting through the Canal as well as all the logistical services and luggage transfer in coordination with maritime agencies.
This procedure is preferably utilised for urgent or unplanned crew changes due to the tight time limits to carry out the crew changes and the high costs of SCA boats
