Marine traffic has resumed on the St. Lawrence Seaway in Ontario, Canada, after the successful re-floating of the grounded cement carrier NACC Argonaut.
According to the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, the vessel is now awaiting inspection on Lake St. Francis. Two tugs assisted in stabilizing and recovering the NACC Argonaut. Luckily, the Management Corporation also reported that no injuries or pollution resulted from the incident or the re-floating.
On September 24, 2023, the NACC Argonaut experienced a grounding event at Buoy D90 between St-Regis and Cornwall Island. As a result of the incident, fifteen vessels experienced a temporary pause in marine traffic.
