Owners in Singapore are about to receive the most vessels ever by the end of 2018. This is result of a large number of order for various ship types. The previous record was 10 years, in 2008, when the asset value was at its peak.
According to Vessels Value, despite the fact that a decrease in these planned orders is expected due to the weakness of tanker and offshore market, this will not impede a record 2018 year. Namely, more than 80 companies have placed these orders, something that shows the wealthy maritime ecosystem of Singapore.
The record 2018 will see Singapore jump into number two of expected deliveries this year. This development will further enhance Singapore’s role as a key player in the global shipping industry for the future, as its terminals are a critical hub for containerships, tankers, and dry bulk vessels.

The majority of major shipping companies are present in Singapore, which improves investment. The presence of a large number of companies in the region will increase interest in new build orders in the years ahead. Thus, Singapore based owners will remain leaders in the shipping industry, Vessels Value concludes.
