Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has successfully secured a $1.5 billion order for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) production facility from a North American firm.
According to Korean Economic Daily (KED), the shipbuilder formed a consortium with US engineering company Black & Veatch, signing an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the FLNG’s design, procurement, and construction.
Samsung Heavy Industries will be responsible for the hull and topside plant processes of the FLNG. This contract has increased the company’s FLNG order backlog to two units, KED informs.
To remind, SHI has also recently secured a 310.8 billion won ($240 million) order for two very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) from an Oceania-based shipowner.
