Royal Caribbean International has welcomed the Icon of the Seas, currently the world’s largest cruise ship, at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland.
The highly-anticipated Icon Class cruise ship will accommodate about 5,000 passengers and will be powered by a combination of LNG and fuel cell technology. The cruise ship is set to begin voyages in early 2024.
Today, we are celebrating more than a new ship; it’s also the celebration of the culmination of more than 50 years of innovation and dreaming at Royal Caribbean to create the ultimate vacation experience
… said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group.
The cruise ship is 1,198 feet long, has 20 decks, and weighs 250,800 gross tonnes. This massive naval architectural feat required more than 7 years of planning and 900 days of design and construction.
It’s official. 🍾 #IconoftheSeas is a part of the family after more than 7 years of dreams-in-the-making. Now, she’s off to Cadiz, Spain, where she’ll get her finishing touches before sailing from Miami January 27. Are you ready for the Icon of Vacations? pic.twitter.com/dzwwtrtwrb
