On 19 July the m/s Ever Laden called at the container terminal Zeebrugge International Port/ZIP. The 8,452 TEU vessel is deployed on the reshuffled service of Evergreen Lines and Hanjin Shipping Lines, which connects Europe with Asia
Evergreen is selling the service under the name CEM (China Europe Mediterranean) and Hanjin under CUS (China UK Service).
Earlier this year, Evergreen and Hanjin announced a series of changes to the jointly-operated Asia-Europe CEM/CUS service. Port of Zeebrugge was added to the loop as the last Northern European port before the ships head back to Asia. Evergreen deploys eight vessels, Hanjin two. Evergreen and Hanjin have also chartered slots to Cosco, “K” Line, Yangming and CMA CGM for this service.
The Evergreen/Hanjin service will be handled at the Zeebrugge International Port (ZIP) terminal. This ultramodern terminal operated by PSA, one of the leading terminal operators worldwide, is situated in the outer port at the north side of the Albert II dock. It is equipped with berths up to 17 meters deep and has the largest quay cranes in Europe, which are able to reach across 24 rows of containers. The ZIP terminal is designed to handle container carriers up to 22,000 teu. PSA Zeebrugge already runs the CHZ terminal on the western peninsula in the outer port.
The new CEM/CUS schedule is: Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo, Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Algeciras, Colombo, Tanjung Pelepas, Hong Kong, Qingdao. From Algeciras there is transshipment to West-Africa. And from Colombo connection to India and Pakistan.
