Peel Ports’ port of Liverpool achieved a record in its container operations, as its quayside and landside throughput in October exceeded all previous numbers with a year on year growth of 12%, by connecting the cargoes with 16 shipping lines.
Peel Ports reduced the length of time that trucks spend at the port, as now, the average truck turnaround time is below 40 minutes.
David Huck, Peel Ports Managing Director commented that for the UK container market, Liverpool port offers the shortest supply chain, helping to reduce costs, congestion and carbon emissions.
It’s testament to the efforts of our whole team that we’re able to significantly increase traffic at the port while also providing our customers with an excellent service.
Recently, Peel Ports came to an agreement with Terminal Investment Limited Sarl (TiL) to develop the Liverpool2 container terminal and enable Peel Ports to accelerate its ambitious growth plans. In addition, the second phase of the Liverpool2 project development to provide additional capacity for the expected increase in volumes has already begun.
