Cargo community provider MGI collaborated with Thales to integrate blockchain technology into its Ci5 Cargo Community System, enabling clients act as trusted third parties when key statuses are validated for the release of goods from shipping terminals.
Specifically, the data in the Cargo Community System is gathered from various sources, including shippers, customs authorities, freight handlers, port agents and road haulage companies.
Additionally, the data is used to ready for the arrival of goods, while enables logistic operations being conducted smoothly and meet the requirements of the customs authorities, regulators and other administrations.
As a result, data reliability is of a great importance in the project. So, as Thales integrates the blockchain system, each of the Cargo Community System’s clients becomes a link in the chain of digital trust.
Approximately 15 operators are exchanging data and share information in Ci5. Blockchain technology will enable MGI to include other operators, such as banks and insurance companies, into the process.
Alain Perez, Director of Information Systems and Operations at MGI concluded
The expertise provided by our partner, Thales, enabled us to incorporate blockchain technology into our Cargo Intelligent System, Ci5.
