The Board of Directors and the Administration of the Panama Canal met to provide guidance and recommendations for the interoceanic route. The agenda discussed industry trends, water security plan, the construction of the Atlantic Bridge and the new Gatun landfill.
The Board of Directors and the Administration of the Panama Canal started a meeting in Rotterdam that will last for three days. The matter under discussion is the provision of guidance and recommendations concerning the interoceanic route. The discussion will be held between the Advisory board and well-known leaders.
Moreover, the matters to be discussed are:
- The performance of the Canal, after being expanded;
- Business opportunities;
- Industry trends;
- National water security plan;
- Progress in the construction of the Atlantic Bridge and the new Gatun landfill.
Additionally with the meeting, delegates from the Panama Canal will pay a visit to the Port of Rotterdam, the largest in Europe, the automated container terminal of APM Terminals Maasvlakte II BV and the LNG terminal, Gate Terminals , which is the LNG hub in Europe.
Moving on, the delegation will also visit other companies, such as the Wittenveen + Bos company that provides consulting and engineering services globally, in multidisciplinary infrastructures, water, environment, space development and construction projects, and Kloosterboer Cool Port BV, having expertise on supply chain of refrigerated products.
The Panama Canal Advisory Board is an organisation established officially in the Organic Law of 1997. Its aim is to provide guidance and recommendations to the Board of Directors and the ACP.
Finally, according to Jorge Luis Quijano, administrator, the knowledge and the feedback coming from the Advisory Board are of a big value for the Panama Canal because of the Board’s experience in fields of economy and world trade.
