Providing an update to the repair works for ‘Olga Maersk’, Hapag-Lloyd informed that the repair period will be extended until approximately February 23, 2019. Olga Maersk was affected by an engine room fire on January 29, while it was on route from Panama to Cartagena.
Because the repair period will be extended until February 23, 2019, Olga Maersk will be 8-9 days behind schedule and therefore overtaken by MV ‘Spirit of Sydney’.
Once repaired, the ship will call Manzanillo, Panama / Cartagena, Colombia / Manzanillo, Panama to load all dry cargo left from weeks 7 and 8, 2019.
A fire had broken out in the engine room onboard Maersk’s Panamax containership Olga Maersk on January 29, while the vessel was on route from Panama to Cartagena.
The fire, which was contained to the engine room, was extinguished following fire fighting procedures.
