In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Maltese-flagged oil tanker has been put under quarantine at the Port of Antwerp after more than half of its seafarers tested coronavirus positive.
According to Reuters, 15 out of the 26 crewmembers onboard the “Minerva Oceania” had been tested covid-19 positive.
In fact, two of the infected crew were in hospital but their condition was not serious, while the other infected crewmembers are self-isolating in separate cabins.
Following the situation, the vessel will be quarantined for at least two weeks, until 4th of July.
Concluding, it is said that the oil products tanker arrived in Port of Antwerp on June 19 after a month-long journey from Ras Laffan in Qatar.
