French container shipping company CMA CGM announced the launch of the Ocean Alliance Day 3 Product, along with its partners in the Ocean Alliance, COSCO Shipping, OOCL, and Evergreen. A total of 330 ships will be deployed under the new service, which is expected to start from April 2019.
Ocean Alliance, launched in 2017, is currently the world’s largest operational agreement between shipping companies.
Under the Day 3 Product, the companies will operate around 330 container ships -111 of which will be operated by the CMA CGM Group- a total of 38 services, as well as an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.8 million TEUs.
The evolution of the product is the largest service offer on the Transpacific trade with 19 services, according to CMA CGM.
The Day 3 Product will namely see:
- An addition of a 7th service between Asia and Europe
- 4 services between Asia and the Mediterranean
- 2 Transatlantic services linking North Europe to the East Coast of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico,
- 4 services between Asia and the Middle East,
- 2 Asia-Red Sea services.

Ocean Alliance began operations of its Day 2 product in April 2018 with an estimated carrying capacity of 3.6 million TEUs.
