NEDA Maritime Agency, Fike and Magsaysay People are the winners of the first SAFETY4SEA Awards. The inaugural presentation of the SAFETY4SEA Awards took place at the closing of the 2016 SAFETY4SEA forum within the scope of awarding industry’s outstanding practices for Initiative, Excellence and Training.
SAFETY4SEA Excellence Award
NEDA Maritime received the SAFETY4SEA Excellence award for the implementation of the Human Resilience campaign. Through this campaign, the company provides a framework for Reflective Learning and Learning Engagement Tools, Knowledge transfer, schemes of advanced thinking, a structured way of selecting the facilitators, an electronic monitoring plan, and a holistic documentation system articulate an original resilience driven framework. This framework is capable of guaranteeing the strengthening of the crew with additional safety skills which will eventually add to NEDA’s organizational effectiveness. Other short-listed nominees for this category were: DNV GL, EMSA, Mitsui OSK Lines and UK P&I Club.
SAFETY4SEA Initiative Award
Fike received the SAFETY4SEA Initiative Award for its Video Analytics for Marine Fire Protection. The company offers a pioneering solution to detect oil mist in ship engine rooms by using video analytics. Therefore, the system can be monitored by shipboard personnel and linked to automation and safety management systems, allowing critical time to take action before disaster occurs. Other short-listed nominees for this category were: ISWAN, Medassist, SOS Campaign and Setel Hellas.
SAFETY4SEA Training Award
Magsaysay People received the SAFETY4SEA Training Award for continuously investing in innovative training programs and state of the art facilities that help seagoing professionals gain a competitive advantage in the global maritime landscape. Other short-listed nominees for this category were: Angelicoussis Shipping Group, Hellenic Naval Academy, LR Marine Training and Videotel.
