The North American Marine Environmental Protection Association (NAMEPA) has received a grant from Patagonia’s Environmental Grants and Support Program. The project designed by NAMEPA is called Fighting Marine Debris on the Connecticut Coastline. The overall objective for this program is to bring together people from different community subsets to address the problem of marine debris and learn about the mitigations strategies and individual action plans. The project will be implemented along the Connecticut Coastline.
The Patagonia Environmental Grants and Support Program gives 1% of their sales to support environmental organizations around the world, funding at the grassroots level in countries and communities where they have people on the ground.
NAMEPA Co-Founder/Executive Director Carleen Lyden-Kluss commented,
“NAMEPA is thrilled to receive a grant from such a global, environmentally conscious entity as Patagonia. This grant enables NAMEPA to build on community outreach and education about the marine environment, especially relating to reducing marine debris. We are further pleased to receive this support from a brand so familiar to the global public, who will learn more about the maritime world through our work.”
