Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that the company received a letter of appreciation from the Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc. for providing ocean transport of used wheelchairs for children in the Philippines.
The letter was presented at a February 9 ceremony in Manila marking the donation of the wheelchairs by the non-profit organization The Volunteers Group to Send Wheelchairs to Overseas Children(*) (Chairperson: Hirokazu Morita; Headquarters: Fussa-shi, Tokyo). This is the fourth time MOL has teamed up with the NPO since 2010.
The containership, loaded with a total of 90 wheelchairs, left the Port of Yokohama on December 29, 2015, and on January 10 of this year, arrived at Manila, where the wheelchairs were distributed to needy children.
At the ceremony on February 9, the foundation presented MOL with a letter of appreciation, saying, “We understand that you have contributed to our activity by providing free ocean transport of wheelchairs. I hope for your continued support to this program for the physically challenged children in the Philippines.”
MOL takes a proactive stance in social contribution activities that are unique to an ocean transport company with a global network.
