According to MRCC France update published in the evening Jan 28, Modern Express is drifting in eastern direction at 1.3 knot speed, at 1700 UTC Jan 28 vessel was some 168 nm west of La Rochelle.
Salvage tug ABEILLE BOURBON and French Navy frigate are at the site, SMIT salvage team is on board of ABEILLE BOURBON , awaiting safe conditions to border MODERN EXPRESS . SMIT hired two Spanish tugs for salvage. Vessel’s condition is stable.
