Initially shown at SMM 2016, the international maritime trade fair in Hamburg, the film showcases the updating of MAN Diesel & Turbo S- and G-type engines to the new Mark 10 engine platform.
Mark 10 is a simpler design than previously and brings many benefits, including fewer components, a specific weight reduction of up to 10% per kW, and a higher Pmax that contributes to a reduced fuel consumption.
The film shows how the full potential of the ME engine concept has been utilised by reducing the complexity of the hydraulic system and increasing system performance, and introduces the new TCEV (Top Controlled Exhaust Valve) and FBIV (Fuel Booster Injection Valve) technologies.
