Maersk International Container Shipping Company is now launching direct bookings to Ukraine via a weekly barge service from the port of Constanta in Romania to the port of Reni in southwest Ukraine.
Throughout the last year, the was in Ukraine affected shipping a great deal. The larger shipping companies suspended shipments to and from Ukraine and Russia, citing unpredictable operational consequences. Important Black Sea shipping routes, including Odesa and the Sea of Azov, were closed off, posing serious threats to global food security.
Logistics operations in and around the country remain difficult, but Maersk will offer direct bookings to Ukraine from around the world, alleviating a frequent customer complaint over the past year.
The weekly barge service from the Port of Constanta, Romania, to the Port of Reni, Ukraine, will take 1.5 days. Their systems have been updated and are ready to accept direct customer bookings to Reni.
Bookings are subject to operational capacity and the submission of the proper documentation, which includes the legal acceptance of a Ukraine clause due to ongoing risk in the area.
