Statoil informed that the Johan Sverdrup Riser platform is near to its completion, and very close to setting an unofficial world record for the fastest construction of a topside of its size, in 19 months from start steel cut to sail-away.
The Johan Sverdrup Riser platform is being constructed at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard on Geoje island in South Korea. The Johan Sverdrup development is now nearly 70% complete, which is according to plan, and investment costs are continuing its positive trend.

The Johan Sverdrup project will be developed in several phases, and the PDO for phase 2 will be submitted to Norwegian authorities in the second half of 2018. Further maturation has reduced the estimated investment costs for phase 2 to below NOK 45 billion.
Phase 1 is expected to start in late 2019 with production capacity estimated at 440,000 barrels of oil per day. The second phase will start in 2022, with full field production estimated at 660,000 barrels of oil per day. In its peak production, Johan Sverdrup will be equivalent to 25% of all Norwegian petroleum production.
