Japan in collaboration with private companies have spent $4 billion to support LNG projects, mostly in Asia. These projects aim to drive the demand for the fuel, according to the country’s trade minister, Hiroshige Seko.
Hiroshige Seko informed that Japan has offered training to 200 people from 15 countries, in an attempt to establish a workforce to work in the LNG sector.
In fact, according to Reuters, Mr. Seko has announced last year that Japan and private companies would provide $10 billion to support LNG projects, while the government would supply LNG or build LNG infrastructure in Asia and set out a workforce of 500 people.
The funds will go towards upstream, midstream and downstream LNG projects in developing countries in Asia, as well as other countries to boost LNG demand.
This decision was made after the Minister and US Energy Secretary Rick Perry agreed in June 2017 that the two countries would cooperate to increase the LNG market in Asia.
The expansion of Asian LNG markets would create demand for US LNG exports, which are on the rise.
