Israel Ports Company (IPC) recently developed a pilot project using blockchain technology in order to transfer digital bills of lading and examine how to streamline supply chain processes.
Through this initiative, Israel Port will create a joint database of all the authorised participants, giving them the opportunity to participate in transactions at the same time, without using paper documents.
In fact, with the use of blockchain, the company goals to advance security and reduce documents’ loss and transfer delays.
We are working to promote every technology whose goal is to streamline and improve the service on behalf of all the providers and recipients of port services, including the field of bills of lading – a field in which a significant demand for streamlining and protection was generated by the customers.
…said Shlomo Breiman, CEO of the Israel Ports Company.
As IPC announced, the project was carried out as part of its collaboration with the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA).
For the pilot project’s accomplishment, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, exporter Adama, Damco Logistics, and PPL 33-35, which operates the Port Community System in the Ukraine also took part.
