Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) is to sign a contract with the private sector for construction of the country’s largest mineral mechanized terminal in Shahid Rajaee port, in the south part of the country. This is expected to be the largest mineral terminal in the Persian Gulf.

…Mohammad Ali Hassanzadeh, the Deputy Director of Ports and economic Affairs of PMO, officially announced.
The final capacity of the terminal is 50 million tons and is being implemented in three phases. The dedicated lands of each phase are 60 hectares and the contractual arrangements are in progress.
This terminal will be the largest mineral terminal in the Persian Gulf and Oman and due to the unique mineral capacity of the country, there will be a change in the Iranian mining industry,

Many of the country’s mines will be connected directly to the terminal by rail and both the export and import sectors can use the capacity of the terminal, he noted.
We hope that the country’s industry and mining sector be able to take advantage of the Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone.
The President of Iran announced in February the Shahid Rajaee port development project, foreseeing installation of 12 gantry cranes to add to the capabilities of the province of Hormozgan and the country in general.
With the launch of 12 new gantry cranes, the capacity of Shahid Rajaee port is expected to increase to 5.8 million TEUs.
