After defying U.S. sanctions by shipping a cargo of oil condensate to Venezuela last week, Iran is now using the same ship to help Venezuela export its crude.
According to Bloomberg, these shipments give some respite to the nation’s troubled oil industry. Namely, the vessel turned off its satellite signal to avoid detection.
Venezuela is having trouble finding ships to risk sanctions after the US announced sanctions on six vessels and its shipowners for transporting its crude. However, the Treasury Department eventually removed the vessels from the sanctions list without making a formal explanation. Nevertheless, it continued pursuing foreign ship carrying product to Venezuela.
In addition to supplying condensate, Iran has also supplied 1.5 million barrels of gasoline and food.
