INTERTANKO issued a statement in which the Council of Members confirms Tim Wilkins to succeed Katharina Stanzel as Managing Director from 1 January 2025.
During a meeting of the INTERTANKO Council, Managing Director Katharina Stanzel confirmed she will be stepping down from the position at the end of the year.
The fifth MD in the Association’s long history, Stanzel was the first to bring an environmental background to the position. Members of the Council elected Deputy MD Tim Wilkins to succeed Kathi as Managing Director, effective 1 January 2025. Stanzel will remain with the Association through the transition period, ensuring a seamless handover in the months ahead.
According to INTERTANKO’s statement Katharina Stanzel has been driving collaboration and partnerships between industry stakeholders, advocating for policies that foster sustainable growth, fair competition and international cooperation in developing best practice, operational excellence and global solutions for a global industry.
Commenting on her time with INTERTANKO, Katharina Stanzel stated that it has been an absolute privilege to work with and serve the interests of INTERTANKO’s Members worldwide and develop, guide and direct the fantastic team of professionals in the Secretariat.
Tim Wilkins, currently Deputy MD and Environment Director, has over 25 years’ experience with INTERTANKO and is currently overseeing the Association’s environmental agenda and European and Board activities. Commenting on his appointment, Tim stated that he is honoured to lead INTERTANKO and humbled by the support of the Association’s Members.
My focus will be on shaping a sustainable future for the tanker industry by supporting Members through the decarbonisation transition, safeguarding the future of our seafarers and actively addressing the complex geopolitical challenges we face.
