The classification society, Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) informed that it has secured ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its Information Security Management System from the British Standards Institution (BSI).
The ISO 27001 standard requires the management to examine its organisation’s information security risks, vulnerabilities and impacts, implement a set of information security controls to address risks that is considered unacceptable. Moreover, it must adopt a management process to ensure that security controls meet the organisation’s information security needs.

IRClass says that it aims to focus on the protection of information and this certification validates that strong and effective systems have been established.
It also added that with this certification, good security measures and a structured approach are in place for managing information.
