Following coronavirus outbreak, the cruise ship ‘Grand Princess’s passengers were tested for COVID-19 by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control (CDC) before their scheduled arrival into San Francisco.
According to Princess Cruises, on 5 March, samples from 45 people onboard the cruise vessel, including passengers and crewmembers, were collected and transmitted to the California Department of Public Health in Richmond to be further examined. The results of the tests are soon expected.
At the moment, 3.533 people are onboard Grand Princess, including 2.422 guests and 1.111 teammates, representing 54 different nationalities.
The CDC sent its guidelines to the company, requesting all guests to stay in their cabins until the tests results are completed.
In light of the situation, all the passengers are receiving meal deliveries in their rooms while they are provided with complimentary internet services in order to contact with their families.
Overall, Princess Cruises informed that cancelled the Grand Princess Hawaii cruise that was scheduled on 7 March and its guests would receive a full refund of their cruise fare.
