Container Trade Statistics (CTS) recently issued an infographic, showing that global container volumes increased by 6.9% during September 2020 in comparison to the same period in 2019.
As noted above, 14.72m TEU were moved globally in September 2020, compared to 13.76m TEU of September 2019.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic and its lockdowns, it was observed a slight fall in volumes moved in September 2020 in comparison to the peak of 14.82m TEU of import and export during July 2020.
What is more, the global import and export container volume was 14.80m TEU in August this year.
According to CTS, its global price index also suddenly increased to 73 points in September 2020, compared to 70 in August, although lower than the year high of 74 in April.
For the records, global price index stood at 66 points in September 2019.
