Fire took place onboard the cargo compartment of the ro-ro cargo ship King Marine I, that was berthed at Sudan port, on June 13.
After the fire erupted, firefighters rushed on the scene to tackle it. According to reports, it took them about 5 hours to take fire under control.
As the fire was extinguished, the ship was taken out to port’s outer anchorage, where it remained anchored until June 13.
The ships was damaged by the fire, but the exact extension of the damage is unknown.
The ship arrived from Qatar on June 1 with cargoes of cars, as well as cattle feed.
