The US Environmental Protection Agency said that Global Partners has violated federal air pollution standards and under-reported the amount of ozone-producing compounds being emitted when it sought permission to handle more oil trains at the Port of Albany.
Timesunion reports that the a notice of violation was sent to the company which operates a crude oil terminal at the port, last July stating that the company has ‘exceeded the 40 tons a year emission level above which it would need a new permit and likely larger and more complex pollution control measures’
If the violations aren’t resolved, the Global Partners is likely for $25,000-a-day fines and court action.
