Chemical-oil products tanker Hafnia Tanzanite suffered a fire in its engine room, when underway about 35nm west-northwest of Hoek van Holland, Netherlands, early in the morning of September 5th. The tanker had arrived from Singapore.
The fire was extinguished by a Halon fire suppression system, but the tanker was disabled. By the afternoon of September 6th the vessel was anchored with a Multraship tug and SAR boat at its side, according to information by Insurance Marine News.
2016-built, Marshall Islands-flagged, 29,492 gt Hafnia Tanzanite is owned by Fortune Chem6 Shipping Ltd care of manager OSM Ship management AS of Arendal, Norway. It is entered with UK Club on behalf of Fortune Chem6 Shipping Ltd. As of September 6th the vessel was reported as underway in the North Sea near Amsterdam, operated by tugmen.
