Evacuation rafts were absent on the vessel showing that rest of the crew may have left the ship
The Russian bulker, Amurskaya, went missing in the Sea of Okhotsk late last month. Search teams have found the wreck of the Russian bulker and continue searching for its crew.
According to RIA Novosti , divers found the body of a dead man during their fourth dive into the wreckage, the ministry said in a statement, and investigators will attempt to determine the cause of death.
The ship, registered in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur, sank near the Shantarsky Islands in the southwestern Sea of Okhotsk on October 28 with 11 crew members on board.
The Emergencies Ministry said in a statement that weather conditions allowed for divers to inspect all compartments inside the ship. Previous underwater inspections of the Amurskaya, which rests at the depth of 25 meters (82 feet), revealed that emergency evacuation rafts were absent on the vessel, which could mean that the crew left the ship.
A criminal case has already been launched on suspicion of violation of ship safety rules.The owner of the company is expected tobe charged with violations ofmaritime safety rules leading totwo or more deaths.
