The system was independently verified by Lloyd’s Register, and the results of all shipboard, land-based, and environmental testing, plus documentation, engineering design and final drawings associated are with the USCG.
The shipboard testing of BALPURE was conducted on a US-flagged Aframax tanker operating on the west coast of the US in the regulated waters of California and Alaska. The tanker is in normal trading and has been ballasting and deballasting with the BALPURE system on a regular basis.
MSC will review the application for compliance with US Coast Guard regulations in 46 CFR 162.060. Once it has been determined that the application meets the requirements, the MSC will issue a type approval certificate.
