The US Coast Guard said that it had to medevac a crew member from the Panamanian-flagged crude oil tanker ‘ATS Sunshine’, near Galveston, Texas, Thursday.
As informed, the US Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report from the chief engineer of the tanker that a crew member aboard required medical assistance.
Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon who recommended a medevac.
A Coast Guard Station Galveston 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew arrived on scene and transferred the crew member to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at USCG Station Galveston.
The crew member was reported to be in stable condition.
AIS data show the ship is currently anchored at Houston anchorage, since 3 April.
