The fire may have started from the engine room of the vessel
At least 13 crew members were injured when a cargo vessel they were manning caught fire off Camarines Sur province in the Bicol region Wednesday night.
The cargo vessel had come from Sibuyan Island in Romblon and was carrying marble shipment, radio dzBB reported early Thursday.
Citing initial police information, the dzBB report said the fire may have started from the engine room of the vessel, initially identified as “Jeffrey Roy.”
Pasacao, Camarines Sur police said the 13 injured crew members were brought to the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City for treatment.
Authorities in the area responded quickly to the fire lest the vessel get near an oil depot in the Pasacao town area.
