S4S: What is your organization doing differently and/or more effectively in order to prepare for a more sustainable future?
K.O.: Already in 2015, our company has built the world’s first dual fueled (LNG) dry cargo vessels, these vessels now are followed by a series of dual fueled tankers and in addition to the tankers another dual fueled dry cargo vessel is ordered.
S4S: Do you have any new projects on the pipeline and/or plans, related with your safety performance that you would like to share with the industry?
K.O.: Thun Tankers B.V., ordered 10 tankers ranging from DWT 8000 to DWT 17.500, built to the absolute latest sustainable design and where we take climate smart shipping to the next level. Five of them will be dual fueled (LNG) and all of them meet and exceed environmental regulations. As mentioned before we also ordered another dual fueled dry cargo vessel
S4S: If you could change one thing about the shipping industry, what would it be and why?
K.O.: Our industry is one of the most innovative, environmental friendly and progressive industries there is, also when it comes to international binding regulations with respect to reducing our environmental footprint. The investments in Thun Tankers are good examples of that. However, we believe there is room for the industry as a whole to improve in marketing these examples.
