ClassNK reminds of the graphical symbols requirements on fire control plans which apply to all Maltese flagged ships as per Malta’s Technical Notice SLS.7. The classification society stresses that, from 1st of January 2018 and onwards, ClassNK surveyors are to confirm compliance at the first periodical Safety Equipment survey.
Specifically, these are the instructions regarding graphical symbols on Fire Control Plan:
- For ships constructed on or after 1 January 2004, the graphical symbols used for fire control plans onboard shall be in accordance with the symbols set out in IMO Resolution A.952(23).
- For ships constructed before 1 January 2004, the graphical symbols used for fire control plans onboard can continue to apply with IMO Resolution A.654(16). However, in case where these fire control plans are revised or updated, the graphical symbols set out in IMO Resolution A.952(23) used for fire control plans should be incorporated.
- Graphical symbols shall be in colour.
