The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a draft revision of its shipyards white list, aiming to receive advice from the public. The first white list for the shipyards included 51 shipyards, while the new one includes 50.
The list consists of 50 shipyards, coming from various provinces and including both state-owned and private enterprises, which comply with all the requirements from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In its first white list, China included shipyards that it considered worthy of favourable policy support. The government had said that shipbuilders that complied with its requirements in areas such as ship emissions, would be added on the white list for favourable policy support, such as export tax rebates and bank credit, Reuters reported.
The new white lists aims to improve the troubled domestic shipyards, giving them more breathing space, as the shipbuilding sector is experiencing serious problems.
In the draft revision, China removed a provision which said that shipyards that are not included in the white list will not receive favourable policy support. Instead, the ministry stated that the list aims to provide priority policy support .
