The China Classification Society (CCS) approved the plan and conducted the new building study for a new generation of Chuanjiang standard bulk carrier, an intelligent ship powered entirely by LNG.
As CCS informs, Chang Hang Huo Yun 002 is a 130m vessel with a deadweight of 9800 tons that meets the “Green Ship-2” criteria as specified by CCS “Rules for Green Ships on Inland Rivers.” Zhijiang Shengmao Shipyard Co., Ltd. is currently building the vessel for China Yangtze Shipping Group Co., Ltd.
In terms of power, this ship engines are solely fueled with LNG. According to CCS, compared with diesel fuelling, it can reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 20%, sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides emissions by 100%, and reduce 60t of carbon emissions annually.
In addition, it is integrated with the latest scientific research achievements in lines optimization, structural light-weighting and efficient propulsion in design, CCS highlights.
Meanwhile, CCS claims that intelligent technologies have been applied in navigation assistance, energy consumption, ship-shore integration etc, which will significantly improve the navigation safety and the precision of ship-shore management.
The vessel is also the first 130m green intelligent Chuanjiang standard ship that adopts micro LNG ignition technology, CCS notes.
