In 2018, cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Seaport exceeded 46 million tons, marking a record in the entire history of the port. The Port estimates that this result is to contribute to the Lithuanian State budget by more than EUR 800 million.
Already four consecutive years Klaipeda Seaport has been improving the result of annual cargo turnover.
According to the provisional data, nearly 46,58 million tons of cargo, i.e. more by 7,3%, comparing with 2017 when the cargo handling turnover was 43,17 million tons, were handled in the Seaport in 2018.
Respectively, 38,51 million tons were handled in 2015 and 40,14 million tons in 2016.
Klaipeda State Seaport is the northernmost ice–free port on the Eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It is the most important and biggest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea, land and railway routes from East to West.
