Joe Kramek

Joe Kramek started as President & CEO of the World Shipping Council (WSC) in August 2024, having served as the WSC's Director of U.S. Government Relations since March 2021. His professional journey includes twenty-eight years as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Coast Guard, where he spent time at sea and as the Chief of Maritime, International, and Environmental Law. Notably, Kramek led the U.S. Delegation to the International Maritime Organization's Legal Committee during his Coast Guard tenure. Joe was detailed for two years to the Department of Justice as an Admiralty Trial Attorney. He was also selected as a Federal Executive Fellow at the Brookings Institution where he completed one of the first research projects on maritime cyber security at port facilities. Joe has been admitted to the bar in Florida, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association and serves as the Vice Chair on the subcommittee for autonomous vessels. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science with honors, from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a Juris Doctor with honors, from the University of Miami School of Law, a Master of Laws in Environmental Law with honors, from the George Washington University School of Law, and a Certificate of Public Leadership from Washington University’s Olin Business School at Brookings.
